Summer is upon us and the sun will be in full force, again. I’m sure a lot of you guys will be out and about chasing your kids at the splash pad, going to theme parks, out on vacation touring new cities or laying out on the beach. As for myself, I may not be doing all of these, but I know that eventually I’ll be going on vacation and I’ll be using products that protect my skin and at the same time make my makeup last. The last month I got a few products that I’ve been happy with and I want to share them with you.
Protect your Face
I hope everyone knows to put on sunscreen and sunblock on skin exposed to the sun. Makeup alone will not protect it. I always wear a moisturizer with a SPF greater than 30. Right now I’m using Kate Somerville Daily Deflector Water-Light SPF 50+ Sunscreen. I like it because I can use it on top of my moisturizer. It will feel lie a very liquidy oil on your skin at first but it dries up quickly and then you can apply your makeup over it.
When I feel like I need more coverage, I put on my moisturizer and instead use Clinique Acne Solutions BB cream SPF 40. I love that its a moisturizer, so you can wear it alone, and it comes in different tints to match your skin color. It’s long-wearing, with a matte finish, lightweight with a fluid texture, offers medium coverage, has broad-spectrum SPF 40 and it’s fragrance-free.
Am I the only one that hasn’t been using a setting spray? When I went to Sephora, I saw setting sprays everywhere. I wanted to try one! I picked up Supergoop! SPF 50 Defense Refresh Setting Mist Sunscreen. It comes in 2 sizes: 1.0 fl oz. which is great for traveling, and the 3.4 fl. oz. I just hold it 8 inches away and spray it a few times towards my face. The mist is fine and colorless, and it smells yummy too. My makeup stays and I’m also reapplying SPF protection to my face throughout the day! I also wear this when I’m not wearing makeup.
My lashes are average. They look much better when I wear mascara, but I don’t like wearing mascara all the time. Instead I wanted to use a product that would give me naturally longer lashes so I wouldn’t have to wear mascara. I picked up Peter Thomas Roth Lashes to Die For Turbo Night Time Eyelash Treatment. I can’t give you a full review yet as I’ve just started using it and it take about 5-8 weeks to see a difference, but based on my research the reviews have been great. According to Sephora reviews- 96% reported the appearance of fuller lashes – 93% reported the appearance of thicker lashes – 93% reported the appearance of longer lashes. I also like there price point compared to other brands.
For my lips I’ve just started using Lipsense. I love that it stays put for hours. It doesn’t rub off and it still stays on after eating. It’s best if you get yours from a distributor so that you can try the different colors in person. I have a few colors that I layer on top of each other. The one color I use with all of them is Aussie Rose. It’s pretty on it’s own and it’s a shimmery color that’s not too bright, but still fun for summer.
So that’s what I’ll be using this summer! Click on the highlighted product names to see details and purchase item.
