Checked in: Bebek Tepi Sawah Villas and Spa in Ubud, Bali

We only had a few days in Bali and we chose to stay in Ubud. Ubud is known as being the heart of Bali. It’s the cultural center of the island filled with temples, exotic attractions, restaurants and cafes. Bebek Tepi Sawah Villas was our choice of accommodation for our stay in Ubud and it’s only a short 10 minute drive to the center of town with free shuttle service.

As soon as you enter the property of Bebek Tepi Sawah Villas you’ll notice the Indonesian architecture of the buildings around the entrance. There is also an art gallery to visit.

The property is filled with lush greenery. Tall, green bamboo is all around and the property has their own rice paddies. Unfortunately, when we visited they had just harvested their rice, so the paddies were empty.

For our stay, we were given the Ubud room. It was a large room on the second floor of one of their villas and  had a large balcony that overlooked the rice paddies. When we arrived, they had decorated our room for honeymooners.  imageimage

imageThe bathroom is also large. A large soaking tub under a window gives you a relaxing view of the bamboo without anyone seeing you from the outside. There is also an outdoor shower which is perfect for taking a shower under the stars after a long day of exploring.

There are two swimming pools on the property. One is by the hotel restaurant, perfect for eating snacks or sipping drinks by the pool. The other, is located on the backside of the property, but it is much larger.

The spa is in a gazebo like setting. There are two buildings, each surrounded by bushes that hide the clients from being seen from the other side. They offer a range of services from manicures to body treatments. We treated ourselves to a couples massage and enjoyed it very much!

There is only one restaurant associated with the villas. There is another restaurant next to the property with the same name but under different management. We accidentally went to this other restaurant. The Bale Banjar restaurant, designated to the villas property, is set between the rice paddies and the pool. As a visitor you have complimentary breakfast. Unlike the major brand hotels that offer a breakfast buffet where your food is just waiting to get picked onto someone’s plate, your selections are made to order. Our food was fresh, warm, and tasty every morning. Lunch and dinner are served in the place, as is afternoon tea service. There is a large selection for all taste palates and everything was delicious! We loved the selection of fresh juices available throughout the day. They were so refreshing.

As a special request you can choose to have one of your meals in the middle of their rice paddies. At night, you’ll have a romantic dinner all to yourselves.

Other facts about the property that made our stay enjoyable is that they provided free wifi, the free shuttle service into town, assistance with planning your activities, and the friendly service from the staff. For fitness fanatics there is no gym, but you can easily substitute a day of exploring Bali for a workout.

A hugely gracious thank you to Trisna and Made who both made sure our stay was enjoyable. And a warm thank you to Bebek Tepi Sawah Villas for welcoming us to experience the hotel for our stay in Ubud.
